About Ethos Children Welfare Foundation
Ethos Children Welfare Foundation (ECWF) is a charitable organisation based in Punjab, India. We support students from economically weaker backgrounds so that food, rent and daily needs never force them to drop out of school or college.
Filling the Gap Scholarships Don’t Cover
Many of our students have earned tuition scholarships at institutions like Chandigarh University. However, their families cannot afford monthly living costs such as hostel fees, meals and transport. ECWF steps in to bridge this gap through monthly support, guidance and mentorship.- What began as a small student-led initiative has grown into a structured NGO—built on one belief: no student should ever have to choose between learning and survival.

“I started teaching children from nearby villages during my college days with a simple goal – to ensure talent is never wasted just because a family cannot afford basic support. That initiative, which we called ‘Prayas’, helped several children clear entrance exams like Navodaya and move into better schools.
Over time, I realized that the same problem exists at higher levels of education. Many students win scholarships but cannot sustain themselves in a new city without help for food, rent and daily needs. That is why we created Ethos Children Welfare Foundation – to stand beside these students and young learners through consistent support, not just one-time charity.

I began social work with Robin in our college days, where we taught children of daily wage workers. Seeing how small support could change a child’s confidence and future made us realize that education needs more than classrooms — it needs someone who stands with students throughout their journey.
What started as ‘Prayas’ has now grown into the Ethos Children Welfare Foundation, a promise that no child’s dream should stop due to financial struggle. Ethos is our shared mission to ensure students not only get opportunities, but also the support to sustain them.

We currently support scholarship students at Chandigarh University and young learners from low-income families. Each profile is verified by our team. You can support a specific student or contribute to the general fund.
Scholarship Youth (University Students)
Many of our university students come from sensitive financial and social backgrounds. To protect their privacy and dignity, we use placeholder images and partial names. Donors receive transparent updates without exposing the students’ identities.

Tax Benefits for Donors in India
Donations to Ethos Children Welfare Foundation are eligible / will be eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
After your donation is processed, we send a digital receipt with your name, donation amount and date, mode of payment / transaction ID, and our NGO details and PAN. You can use this receipt while filing your income tax return.
If 80G approval is currently in process, we will inform donors and update this section as soon as it is granted.

‘Prayas’ – The College
Initiative That Started It All
During his college days, Robin Kachhap led an education initiative called “Prayas”, where he and fellow students taught children from surrounding communities and helped them prepare for important school and entrance exams.
In “Prayas”, Robin and his peers focused on school subjects and competitive exams like the Navodaya Vidyalaya entrance test, helping several children secure admission to better schools. The initiative gained recognition and was featured in local newspapers for its impact on underprivileged students.
The lessons from Prayas – community trust, consistent mentoring and faith in students’ potential – directly shaped the vision behind Ethos Children Welfare Foundation.
Today, ECWF carries forward the same spirit by supporting both university scholarship students and young learners through structured, transparent programs.

Why don’t you show photos of adult scholarship students?
To protect their privacy and dignity, adult students’ identities are shown using silhouette avatars. All details are verified internally and donor updates do not reveal sensitive personal information.
Are donations to ECWF tax-deductible under Section 80G?
Donations are eligible or will be eligible for tax deduction under Section 80G (update based on status). ECWF provides digital receipts with PAN, transaction ID and NGO details for tax filing.
How do I know my donation is used correctly?
ECWF follows strict transparency. Donors may view registration documents, PAN, compliance certificates, annual financial summaries and impact reports. Funds are disbursed via traceable channels like bank transfers or direct vendor payments.
How are students verified?
Each student undergoes a complete verification: income proof, scholarship letter, academic background, family background check and personal interview. Only genuine cases are accepted.
Can I support ECWF in ways other than donating?
Yes. You can volunteer, mentor students, help with digital outreach, donate supplies, sponsor events or connect ECWF with CSR teams.
